Former New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony thinks that the team’s improved relationship with well-known sports agency Klutch Sports will be advantageous for everyone involved.
Carmelo Anthony’s NBA Journey
Carmelo Anthony is one of only seven players to have scored at least 10,000 points while playing for the New York Knicks, showing his expertise in clutch moments in the city. He also seems to have a knack for making big plays in important situations.
In his recent podcast episode “7PM in Brooklyn”, Anthony discussed the reported reconciliation between the New York Knicks and Klutch Sports, a popular agency led by Rich Paul. If the two parties have indeed resolved their past issues, the future Hall-of-Famer thinks that everyone involved will see positive outcomes.
The Rise of Klutch Sports
“Relationships hold significance. It used to be the strongest relationship, but eventually it fell apart. It caused a rift where people had to choose sides and cut off communication with certain individuals within the same social group for years.”
It has been revealed that clients of Paul’s agency, Klutch Sports, were hesitant to do business with the Knicks because of the prior connection between team president Leon Rose, who used to represent player Anthony, and Paul. Paul had previously worked with Rose at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) before starting Klutch in 2012.
The Knicks-Klutch Reconciliation
According to a report by Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the two parties held a meeting in February to address their issues and potentially pave the way for future negotiations in the offseason. Paul represents several high-profile clients, such as Malcolm Brogdon, Anthony Davis, Zach LaVine, Tyrese Maxey, Dejounte Murray, and his longtime friend LeBron James.
Anthony thinks that it would be advantageous for both sides to remain calm and think rationally.
“In order to mend that energy and find a resolution, as adults, we need to address this issue. You have to, because regardless, you rely on New York,” he added. “You can’t avoid New York. You may attempt to, but ultimately you have to return, particularly in specific industries.”

Carmelo Anthony’s Return to the Knicks
If you want to make it big in music or sports, you need to make it in New York. Without a connection to the Knicks, your presence in the NBA won’t be powerful.
The Knicks have struggled to sign well-known superstars, but Jalen Brunson’s emergence and signings from overseas have raised optimism and made Manhattan a more appealing place. It remains to be seen if the Knicks will benefit from the efforts of Rose and Paul.
