Speaking at the inauguration of the Dr Rajendra Prasad National Law University in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Justice Chandrachud highlighted the importance of bringing legal education to rural areas. He expressed concern that the current system often benefits students in cities, leading to unequal access to legal education.
Justice Chandrachud underlined the ability of technology to bring about significant changes, particularly in providing equal educational opportunities across urban and rural areas. He pointed out that technological advancements have enabled educational institutions to reach students in remote locations, making legal education more accessible to all.

Challenges to Expanding Legal Education in Rural Areas
In regards to a diversity survey carried out in five law schools, Justice Chandrachud emphasized the obstacles faced by students from different backgrounds, especially those who are not fluent in English. He expressed regret that these students often struggle to get accepted into esteemed institutions because of language barriers, which widens the gap in legal education.
Justice Chandrachud promoted the idea of bringing legal education to rural areas to provide all students with equal opportunities to enter the field of law. By making legal education more accessible outside of cities, he emphasized the importance of inclusivity and empowerment, ensuring that aspiring lawyers from smaller towns have the chance to succeed.
